Bumfortable
seats may be the the most comfortable kayak seat you'll every use.
This seat has been designed by world adventure racing champion,Steve Gurney, who's gluts has spent uncountable hours crammed into tight spaces while grinding long hours down rivers. It is without dispute one of the most comforatble after market seats you will eveery get.
Made from
recycled thermo-molded foam rubber, these seats
are easy to install, easy to customise, and mold naturally to shape of your bot. These seats have just the right amount of firmess and support without being too hard. They also offer excellent insulation against cold conditions.
I've been using them for years now in all my kayaks and would not use any other seat. My UFO's seat is now 7 years of hard use and still as good as the day it was installed. I've seen the Bumfortable mounted in a a variety of kayaks now and it fit very nicely into the Van Duzen Mohican.
Here's some feeback from other people using the Bumfortables:
Marsh from Minnesota posted this on the MIPP Yahoo group:
"OK, this is an unabashed PLUG for the Gurney Gears Bumfortable seat. I bought a couple from Phil Taylor back when I had the F1, and thought it was pretty comfortable. But since then, I've found that it was the cure for several ill fitting kayaks. I stripped out the factory seat in a Stratus that I raced at Two Harbors, used it as a drop-in in a boat Cal built, and finally this afternoon stuffed it in the cockpit of my Match II wildwater boat that *had* a bikini seat.molded in. Note the emphasis on 'had'. Bikini seats are aptly named - if you shouldn't wear a bikini bottom, you won't fit those freaking seats!. It fell victim to a bit of quick work with a Dremel tool and cutoff wheel. The Bumfortable dropped right in, and off I went for the first comfortable paddle I've had in that boat.
Without question, one of the true saviours of the backside."
James wrote to me about the seat after the Western Michigan Coastal Kayak Association symposium :
"I sat in my boat teaching, which is stressful for my bony butt, all morning and all afternoon and had no pain. Love it!"

The Bumfortable in a canoe gives the paddler superior comfort and an increase in control as the hips are supported to allow better heeling control.
"Just an update on my experience with the "Bumfortable" kayak seats. I have used them for over 2 months in both C-1 and C-2 marathon canoes with excellent results. My first test was in the C-1 where I did a 5 hour paddle using the "Bumfortable" and was comfortable for the entire time. Three days later in a different C-1 with a standard seat and I had "butt" problems after 1 1/2 hours. The real test was last weekend when Neil Hanks and I did the AuSable Canoe Marathon, a 120 mile canoe race in Michigan. After 16 hours of paddling the "Bumfortable" proved to be the most comfortable canoe seat we have ever used!" Fritz Hansen - WI
