My name is Phillip Taylor, I'm a New Zealander, now living in the USA. When I moved to the USA in 2005 I brought with me two multisport kayaks. Since then I've been racing in every event in Wisconsin and Illinois that I've been able to get to. I've found that there are very few true performance kayaks that ordinary people can enjoy paddling. Mostly people are using heavy sea kayaks, plastic recreational kayaks, or if they have the skill, an Olympic racing kayak or ocean racing ski. Many people are fascinated by my New Zealand designed and build multisport kayaks. With encouragement from my wife and a many individuals in the paddling community, I've taken the plunge and started PXT Kayaks to bring New Zealand style fitness and racing kayaks to the US paddling community, and to facilitate the development of performance paddling. These kayaks will be designed and made here in the USA, using the best of my knowledge and experience. I hope that PXT Kayaks performance kayaks will allow as many people as possible to enjoy kayaking for fitness and racing. The first kayak, a stable racing kayak suitable for beginners is almost ready for production molding. PXT Kayaks also imports and sells selected racing kayak racing gear from New Zealand to support the development of kayak racing and multisport. PXT Kayaks is also committed to supporting the development of kayak as a enjoyable sport. I have a personal opinion that exercise and sport should be enjoyed, so I hope that the products and information on this site will help people achieve their goals, while enjoying themselves. Light, fast, fun! Mate, kayaking in the USA will never be the same! Women should note that no longer will you have to struggle to lift a 45 + lb kayak onto the roof of your car again. My light weight racing kayaks will weight 20 - 25 lbs! |
